Caroline County Personnel Review Board

Charge/Authority:

The Personnel Review Board shall:
  1. Serve as an advisory body providing advice and guidance on the personnel policies and practices of Caroline County Government;
  2. Review the compensation provided County employees and other policies and practices involving employee recruitment, selection, discipline and retention;
  3. Hear and decide employee grievances as provided under
    Chapter 6 of the Personnel Rules and Regulations; and
  4. Perform other duties as provided in the Personnel Rules and Regulations or as may be provided from time to time by the County Commissioners.

Code of Public Local Laws of Caroline County, Maryland §49-5 (allows for the adoption of personnel rules and regulations)

Composition: Seven total members, as follows: two Classified Employees elected by vote of the Classified Employees by secret ballot; one County Commissioner; four residents of Caroline County appointed by the County Commissioners, one of whom shall be appointed because of his or her expertise in personnel administration.
Term of Office: The two Classified Employees elected shall serve two-year terms to begin on the first day of January; the County Commissioner shall serve a term determined by the County Commissioners; the remaining four members shall serve three-year terms to begin on the first day of January.
Meetings: Second Tuesday of every month at 2:00 p.m., at the Courthouse, Orphan's Court Room, Denton, or in special session as the need arises. Meetings are open to the public unless closed under an applicable exception as stated in the Maryland Open Meetings Act ( State Government article, §10-508).
